Meet the team that make our excellent tree care service happen

Chris Heald, CHC Tree Care

Chris Heald
Hi, I'm Chris. I'm originally from Nottinghamshire and I've been living and working in Sheffield for the last six years. I started my career in Arboriculture in 2008 after having worked with friends in the industry. I feel fortunate that Arboriculture is both my career and my passion - being able to work outdoors, doing work I enjoy with the team is a real privilege, even in the worst of weather!

Being based in Sheffield and so close to the Peak District is great, I'm often out in the Peaks either on my mountain bike, walking or rock climbing.

The past six months have been a huge change for me, moving from being a subcontractor to running my own business, but I have great aspirations for CHC Tree Care. Personally I hope the new business will enable me to fulfil my hopes to travel to the cork forests in Portugal and visit the West coast of Canada, travelling down to Big Sur in California.

Geraint Radford - Qualified Arborist

Geraint Radford
Hi, I'm Geraint. I'm originally from Woodhall Spa in Lincolnshire and I've been living in South Yorkshire for the last ten years. I became a qualified Arborist in 2008, and I feel very fortunate to have been in a line of work that feels like a hobby ever since.

In my spare time, just like my work, I enjoy the great outdoors. I enjoy being out in the Peaks, mountain biking, walking and doing a spot of rock climbing. Another favourite pass time is wood carving, I think its great being able to recycle parts of trees in to beautiful things and keep them 'living on' into the future. A few times a week I attend meditation classes, I feel this rolls over into my work life, giving me a level head and a greater sense of kindness, understanding and compassion towards the rest of the team and the customer, and the ability to keep happy even when wet and cold through the Winter.

Pete Whittaker - Tree Surgeon

Pete Whittaker
Hi, I'm Pete. I love climbing. Whether its trees or rocks I'm pretty content.

I grew up in the Peak District so I was naturally drawn towards rock climbing due the famous Gritstone outcrops that lie around the valleys outside Sheffield, Manchester and Leek. Rock climbing has taken me all over the world, from the US and Canada, to Sweden, Spain and much of Europe.

As an outdoor and climbing enthusiast it came with no persuasion that tree surgery would be a great and rewarding job for me. I love all aspects of tree work, from working hard in all elements, to team work and problem solving on difficult and more complicated jobs. For me the job is exciting and fulfilling. It's satisfying to be in such a great line of work.
